International Donkey Race

In late August Tisno is home to a traditional donkey race that commemorates the time when these hardy animals were the chief helpers of the local inhabitants.

The Tisno area is known for its wine and olive oil production, and getting from home to field was easiest with the help of a donkey, usually paired in teams to draw a cart, known locally as a kar.

Wine and olive oil production has been modernised, and the donkeys now enjoy an easy life on a farm operated by enthusiasts from Tisno, dedicated to preserving this traditional animal.

In the evening visit the waterfront in the town of Murter and take the opportunity to enjoy a donkey ride.
